Elevate is Ignite’s longest running project, and is a dance programme containing 3 streams; Elevate Academy, Hype open dance sessions and school workshops. These streams use dance as the catalyst to encourage young people aged 13-19 to engage in positive activities, develop life skills and make healthy life choices.

Elevate Academy

This is a closed project for up to 22 young people each year who have shown confidence and skill in dance in Hype open dance sessions and through an audition process. Since it began we have seen over 115 young people develop their dance skills and increase their life chances through being part of Elevate Academy. The Academy meets every Thursday from 5.30 – 7.30pm at Harrow High School for training and rehearsal sessions in street dance, break dance and waving.

These styles are used to create powerful and professional performances, which Elevate Academy then
perform around Harrow and throughout the UK.

Elevate also offers one-to-one mentoring to all young people in the Academy.
